The resources of Lawrence Hall are committed to helping at-risk children redefine the paths of their own future.
For many of our children, Lawrence Hall is the first home they have ever known. We provide a safe environment where abused and neglected children can move on to adulthood with resiliency and hope.
Our Vision
Lawrence Hall is a community of staff, volunteers, and board members dedicated to creating a society in which our children and their families are treated as valued and cherished members.
Our Mission
Lawrence Hall is a not-for-profit child welfare agency established to assist at-risk youth and their families through a seamless delivery of services designed to develop the self-worth, knowledge, and skills they need to lead independent and productive lives.
We support our mission with an annual budget of $17-$19 million derived from government grants and contracts, private support, and allocations from the United Way of Chicago and Episcopal Charities. Throughout our long history, we have demonstrated sound fiscal management, operating without a deficit and using our resources responsibly to plan for future growth.
Who We Serve
Lawrence Hall cares for approximately 1,500 children each year boys and girls, infants and adolescents, teenage mothers and their babies, and the families of our program participants. All come from highly deprived backgrounds with very limited access to education, health care, and social services.
The children of Lawrence Hall have multiple physical and psychological problems. They suffer from behavioral and emotional disorders, mental illness, learning disabilities, traumatic brain injury, addiction, prenatal drug or alcohol exposure, and disrupted family support systems.
Many have been removed from their homes by the State and placed in our care. Others live with their families but seek specialized services due to disabilities or unique needs.
Our Core Beliefs
