Responsibilities: - Responds immediately to calls from milieu and school staff, regarding residents in crisis.
- Implements verbal de-escalation techniques and, if necessary, provides physical intervention.
- Provides one-on-one services to residents.
- Assists in supervisionof residents.
- Assists in retrieving residents from the police station after processing is completed.
- Assists in facilitating assessments for psychiatric hospitalization; accompany clients to the hospital when necessary.
- Provides on-going documentation of services provided to clients, in accordance with ITP (Individual Treatment Plan) and Agency/DCFS policies and procedures.
- Attend milieu treatment team meetings to discuss client treatment goals and services when requested.
- Reports all client and facility issues to supervisors and/or administration.
- May participate with the residents, in both planned and casual recreation, as well as other activities. These activities may include household chores and other work projects designed to promote healthful peer living experiences for residents. Also designed to provide them with a meaningful and socially acceptable outlet for accumulated physical energy and pent-up emotions.
- Responsible for the care and supervision of the residents while driving them to and from destinations, including the safe operation and cleanliness of the agency vehicle. Reports to supervisor, the physical condition (problems) of the agency vehicle.
- Follow clients into the community and if they leave the unit without permission, encourage the client to return to the unit. Follow client several blocks, either by walking or driving.
- Drive around the surrounding area of the agency or school in the community to look for clients that are AWOL from school or after school.
- Ability to work effectively with clients and staff in a culturally diverse environment.
- Demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement in all aspects of the position.
