Complementary Services
The seamless transition between levels of care within each program and across programs equips our youth with the tools and skills they need to set them on the path toward becoming proud, productive participants in society. Throughout all of Lawrence Hall’s programs, youth benefit from additional therapeutic and supportive services to treat trauma and stabilize behavior including:
-
Clinical Services oversees the agency’s mental health and medical services ensuring that the treatment environment addresses trauma, promotes attachment and bonding and supports the family connection while teaching youth the self-management skills necessary in order to live successful, independent lives.
-
Therapeutic Recreationcombines treatment, recreation and leisure activities to help youth develop specific skills, including social skills, managing emotions in constructive ways, honing cognitive skills, and enhancing physical fitness or coordination.
-
Expressive Therapies use visual art, music, dance and drama to offer a creative, non-threatening treatment alternative to traditional therapy to children who have been labeled “unreachable.”
-
The Pastoral Care Program helps children to develop spiritually and to learn to be of service to others in their lives.
-
The Balanced and Restorative Justice Program, the first program of its kind nationally to be developed and implemented within a child welfare agency, offers an alternative to arrest and juvenile court for youth (under the age of 17) who commit non-felony offenses. Under BARJ, programs focus on promoting responsibility and accountability, building positive coping and social skills, improving the self-confidence of those who harm others, and repairing and restoring community safety.
Lawrence Hall’s goal is to disrupt the downward cycle of poverty, violence, abuse and despair. We do this by providing youth and their families with the tools and skills they need and by setting them on the path toward becoming proud, productive participants in society. Each of our programs provides a full array of services, giving youth the stable support systems they need within an organization of people who know them, and who they have learned to trust.
