Building on the basic premise that a child's needs are interrelated, Lawrence Hall Youth Services programs create a continuum of care serving children from infancy to 21 years of age.

Our core programs provide flexible and responsive treatment options, and when combined with our specialized services and alternative therapies, they offer an innovative and holistic service model as well as a stable, caring environment.

Residential Treatment
Lawrence Hall's Residential Treatment program provides homes for children who need comprehensive, 24/7 treatment in a therapeutic environment. These children and youth have been diagnosed with severe emotional or behavioral disorders due to abuse and neglect. Social workers, teachers, residential staff and therapists together serve the individual needs of each child. The LHYS Residential Treatment program currently consults and collaborates with the University of Illinois at Chicago's Comprehensive Assessment and Treatment Unit (CATU) to enhance its services.

Therapeutic Day School
Lawrence Hall's Therapeutic Day School provides accredited year-round academic and vocational training for children aged 8 to 21. Its specialized education program targets children and youth who have been unsuccessful within other school systems. It is one of only a few therapeutic day schools in the Chicago area with the experience, facilities and staff expertise to help youth who have gone beyond "at-risk."

Foster Care
Provides temporary homes for children and adolescents removed from unsuitable conditions in their natural families. Staff works toward family reunification and/or resolution of problems, or toward finding another permanent living situation. Lawrence Hall is one of a handful of agencies that the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) contracts with for specialized foster care.

Supervised Independent Living
Offers young adults ages 17 to 21 structure, guidance and support as they progress toward independence from the child welfare system. Part of the reason any teen turns into a successful adult is the advice and help they get from their support system, which may include family, community, church, friends, schools and other organizations. For teens with no support system, Lawrence Hall's independent living program fills the gap.

Lawrence Hall began a pilot program for Transitional Living/Group Home Services (TLP/GH) for young adults who are old enough to live on their own but lack the independent living and life skills to live in their own apartment.

Complementary Services
Expressive and Recreational Therapies use the arts and recreation, respectively, as supplements to traditional therapy.
The Pastoral Care program helps children develop spiritually and morally, and find a place for service to others in their lives.
A Scholarship Program supports some of our children in parochial schools.
